2026 Annual SCATA Symposium

2026 Annual SCATA Symposium will offer a variety of topics across the two day meeting and day of pre-conference learning opportunities. Participants will be encouraged to attend the educational sessions that best meet their clinical settings and individual continuing education goals. All domains of athletic training practice will be covered through various lectures, case presentations, breakout discussions, and hands-on clinical lab sessions.

Target Audience

This conference is intended for certified athletic trainers and students enrolled in athletic training education programs. This conference also provides designated continuing education units required to maintain LLR certification in the state of South Carolina.

Pre-Conference educational sessions:

"The Athletic Trainer Response: A Mass Casualty Incident"

Athletic trainers will arrive on scene to a mock mass casualty incident, and identify unique challenges such as limited resources, the need for rapid decision-making, and the coordination of multiple responders during an MCI. Athletic trainers will triage patients in multiple different scenarios learning to prioritize patients based on severity of injuries and their role in managing these incidents. Athletic trainers must prepare for their role in disaster management events by establishing and reviewing an emergency action plan. Emergency action/disaster plans will be discussed in a lecture setting allowing time for individual review of implementation of new knowledge.  This course will better prepare an athletic trainer for a possible mass casualty incident developing triage skills and understanding their role as a health care provider during a MCI.

Registration will be an add on option; or stand alone registration for pre-con course only.

Welcome Reception is Wednesday, July 15th, and is included with attendee registration. Please RSVP during registration.

SCATA Honors and Awards  will be Thursday, July 16th at 5:15-6pm. Please join us in celebrating this years award winners. All registered attendees are invited to attend.

SCATA Casino Night - Returns! For many years, Casino Night was a SCATA favorite, featuring Blackjack, Roulette, Texas Hold’em, and Craps. We’re excited to bring this tradition back for another great night of entertainment and connection. Join us Thursday, July 16th from 8-11pm.

Refund Policy

All cancellation requests must be made in writing by email to the SCATA Treasurer ([email protected]). All cancellations prior to 6 weeks to the first date (May 30, 2026) of the event will be refunded in full minus 10% for processing/accounting procedures. Cancellations occurring within 2 (June 30, 2026) and 6 (June 7, 2026) weeks prior to the first date of the Event will receive a 50% refund, minus 10% for processing/accounting procedures. No refunds will be given for cancellations within 2 weeks of the first date of the event.

Continuing Education Credits

South Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (BOC AP#: P322) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program is eligible for a maximum of 12.5 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
